SUMMARY:Mayor's Breakfast - Evan Siddall
DESCRIPTION:Join Mayor Jim Watson at this high-profile breakfast series\, where issues vital to Ottawa's prosperity and quality of life are presented. Focusing on issues such as economic development\, transportation and the environment\, this breakfast series provides an opportunity to network and stay informed. \n\n\n\nTopic: CMHC: Building an Agile Culture and the Future of Work\n\n\n\nGuest Speaker: Evan Siddall\, President and CEO\, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation\n\n\n\nEvan and his executive team have transformed CMHC into a high-performing\, innovative and ambitious organization with the aim that "by 2030\, everyone in Canada will have a home that they can afford and that meets their needs." CMHC has led the design of Canada's first-ever National Housing Strategy\, an ambitious $55 billion\, 10-year plan to reduce housing need in Canada.\n\n\n\nEvan was inspired to public service after visiting Canadian battlefields and Vimy Ridge in northern France. He served first at the Bank of Canada\, as Special Advisor to Mark Carney\, in 2010. Taking lessons from the global financial crisis of 2008 and his career in finance\, Evan spearheaded the Bank's efforts in establishing financial infrastructure to guard against systemic risks\, including "bail-in" loss-absorbing capital for large banks.\n\n\n\nEvan worked at some of the world's largest investment banking firms in Canada and the United States before joining the Bank. He also helped launch a private entrepreneurial venture\, Side Launch Brewing Company\, named 2016 Canadian Brewery of the Year.\n\n\n\nDiagnosed with early onset Parkinson's disease in 2015\, Evan is an advocate for healthy living. Inspired by the legendary cyclist Davis Phinney's mantra to "live well today\," Evan is a member of Davis's foundation board and co-founded the Growling Beaver Brevet cycling fundraiser. In five years\, the event has raised $1.8 million for Brain Canada and people living with Parkinson's.\n\n\n\nHe is an avid cyclist\, a voracious reader\, and a lifelong downhill skier. Evan wants to speak French better\, lose his airline status\, and one day write a book in English. He has two grown children\, and splits his time between Ottawa and Toronto.\n\n \n\n\n\n\nPresented nine times annually\, the Mayor's Breakfast Series is a popular event which includes networking over coffee\, a buffet breakfast and a presentation from guest speakers which include high-profile political\, business and community leaders. Mayor Jim Watson also updates attendees on recent City Hall issues and initiatives.\n\n\n\nFor more information on our upcoming events\, please visit our Upcoming Events Page. \n\n \n\n\n\n\nEvent Sponsors:
